++ Haldir: Clothing and Weaponry
The Fellowship of the Ring
Cloak: Hithlain (and I hate to put it so bluntly) is not a real substance. It is a fictional strong and silky grey substance used by the Galadhrim to typically make their ropes, so that they would be strong, light and flexible. Since the material of the grey Elven cloaks given to the Fellowship was not clearly specified. it only makes sense that those also contained Hithlain. If those did, then we can safely say that Haldir's own cloak did, too. And they added coils of rope, three to each boat. Slender they looked, but strong, silken to the touch, grey of hue like the elven-cloaks.
"They are made of hithlain," said the Elf.
Unfortunately, Hithlain does not exist to us, meaning we can only find something that would look close. In the film, the cloaks of the Fellowship were made of wool. The wool was woven in New Zealand by Stansborough Fibres. Their wool can only be found in New Zealand, as their flock of sheep are the only kind in the world. Like Hithlain, their wool is strong, soft and silky... and also warm and light. We can then assume that Haldir's was also made with this wool. So, since that wool is obviously very costly and probably unobtainable for most of us, we can use - in it's place - a regular grey wool fabric, which would work pretty much the same way. I will draw and supply templates in the near future.
Jerkin: I am almost entirely sure that Haldir's jerkin is made of a grey wool fabric (hey, just like the cloak! How convenient... :-D). I'm not too sure how the wrap goes, and how many layers this is made of, so I'll update this when I figure something out for it. On his waist is a belt with his sheath, which carries his lovely Galadhrim sword... descriptions of that can be found further down the page... I will draw and supply templates in the near future.
The Two Towers
Please see Haldir's Costume Gallery for photos of the Third Age Elven armour from the film.There are MANY pieces to his armour, and my mind is too fried to list them all out. I am currently working on a [very poor] replica of Haldir's armour with fibreglass (a 15-year old lass cannot pound metal). I will post photos, [maybe] templates and instructions when I am finished with it, along with instructions on how to properly use fibreglass. Cheers! ;-)

Hair
The braid that Haldir wears (as well as Legolas) is called a "Herringbone Braid", one of the simplest braids to achieve, if done properly. It is not the regular three-strand braid, but a two-strand braid. The braid will only turn out properly if done tightly and neatly. An instrument that may help you a great deal in creating this braid is Scunci's CrissCrosser™: Quick and Easy Braider. Instructions shall be posted later on.
